Ultralight school (VDS)

The law n. 106 of March 25, 1985 and Presidential Decree no. 404 of August 5, 1988 regulate the ultralight activity (VDS), which is the fifth air sport specialty supervised by AeCI. To perform this activity you need to attend a course at a certified flight school and obtain the Certificate of Flight through a written and a practical test.
The basic course consists of a theoretical part and a practical part.
The theoretical part includes group classes on the following topics:
- Pre-flight operations
- Flight Safety
- Air traffic
- Aviation medicine
The practical part consists of flights of about 50-60 minutes for a total of 16 hours, which include:
- Pre-flight checks
- Horizontal flight
- Climbing, descents and leveling
- Steep turns
- Simulated emergencies
- Solo flight
The missions are always held by appointment and can be made any day of the week, unless adverse weather conditions.
Possibility of quick courses (15 days), advanced courses, and speech course.
The basic course takes place with a Tecnam P2008, a sport and school aircraft built by Tecnam s.r.l (aeronautical company since 1948). Convenient, fast and quiet; capable of taking off and landing in less than 200 meters. Thanks to the design of the fuselage and the wing profile it flies at 200 km/h with 75% power.
- To be 18 years of age; or 16 years with the signed consent of the person who has parental authority
- A medical certificate issued by a sports doctor (for non-competitive sporting activities)
- A permit issued by the "Questura" in the province of residence
